Trade More Residents Laments Deplorable Roads Conditions in the Estate Community, Lack of Drinkable water, Health facilities Amongst others, Call on Mr Mbaka for a Town Hall Meeting

Residents of Trademore Estate located at Ubani Ibeku, Umuahia, Abia State are lamenting over the poor living conditions and amenities in the estate.

Some residents who spoke to newsmen who visited the estate said the environment is gradually becoming uninhabitable and taken over by bushes, snakes, scorpions, and other dangerous creeping animals.

They complained that the roads leading to their buildings continue to deteriorate without drastic attention given to it by the management of Trademore Estate.

Trademore Estate in Abia is being marketed by the Platinum Mortgage Bank branch in Umuahia.

Mr. Donatus Chukwuemeka Egbu, a resident of the estate on Saturday said he acquired the property and moved in about six months ago as he was attracted to the estate through a widely publicised advert jingle on radio stations assuring how serene the environment is and other amenities but unfortunately the reverse is the case.

Mr. Donatus lamented the deplorable condition of roads, poor electricity supply, and scarcity of water supply in the estate. He also expressed dissatisfaction on the height of bushes within the estate, which have attracted reptiles and rodents such as snakes into their apartments. He called on the management of the estate and the Abia State government to come to their aide.

“If rain falls for a few minutes, it becomes difficult for us to access the roads in the estate. You see people folding their trousers and holding their shoes just to pass through these roads, and there’s no health facility around this estate.” Mr. Donatus said.

“The management is not doing anything, the government is who we are calling on, everyone here are tax payers, peoples taxes are deducted from the source, we pay insurance here and we pay our taxes to the government, so why would we live in this type of environment? The estate management is not helping, and we are calling on the government to help. I know that the owner of this estate is from Abia state.” Mr. Donatus said.

While comparing Trademore Estate in Abia to other Trademore Estate in other states, Mr. Donatus rated Trademore Estate in Abia as the worst in management and infrastructural maintenance.

Amuzie Kelechi who also acquired a block in the estate for the past eight months said the overgrown weeds have been there hoping that the management would do something about it or wait until the dry season sets in when the stagnant water would dry up.

” I’m not comfortable with this place. In this place, every night, frogs do their choir rehearsal and competition here as well as breeding of mosquitoes and even snakes.

“During the rainy season, people don’t apply this road because of the water log.”Mr Amuzie said.

Mr. Amuzie pleaded with the platinum Mortgage Bank managers and estate management to carry out overhaul maintenance in the facilities of the estate for better human habitation and protection of lives.

In an effort on further enquiry by Candid Reporters on the position of the marketers of Trademore Estate in Abia, we spoke to Onyema Tommy, whom we learnt is part of Platinum Mortgage Bank marketing team but simply gave his position as a staff of Platinum Mortgage bank but declined to respond to us.

All efforts made to reach the manager of the estate proved abortive as calls and messages to him were not responded to even as our news team got to the apartment of the estate manager inside the estate, yet he refused to give us audience after several attempts.
